Best eSIM for USA in 2027: 10GB on Verizon for $7.95

Updated Oct 22, 2026Pricing verified Oct 22, 202616 sources cited

The best eSIM for USA trips is a country plan on Verizon. 10GB for 15 days costs $7.95, and a lighter 5GB plan costs $4.95. From Europe, getting there gets easier in 2027. On 20 October 2026, Lufthansa put its summer schedule on sale. It adds Frankfurt to Columbus from 5 May 2027 and Munich to Phoenix from 3 August.

Two groups can skip this guide. If your phone is carrier-locked or has no eSIM support, none of these plans will install, so check our eSIM compatibility guide first. And if your plan at home already includes the USA at no extra cost, you have nothing to buy.

    Key takeaways

    • A week in the USA: 10GB costs $6.95.
    • Two weeks: 10GB for $7.95.
    • Every USA country plan we sell is data only, with no local number.
    • Roaming from Canada costs more per day than our whole two-week plan.
    • Most visitors from Europe and Australia need an ESTA, now $40.62. Canadians do not.

What's new for flights to the USA in 2027?

Three airline groups added new routes to the USA between 16 and 20 October 2026. Most of the new flights start between late April and August 2027.

    RouteAirlineStartsFrequency
Frankfurt to Columbus, OhioLufthansa5 May 20273 a week, Boeing 787-9

The longest list came from the airline group's newsroom. The group called it its widest route expansion since 2020, and the schedule went on sale the same day.

The routes from Canada come from an aviation news report on a joint announcement by the two partner airlines. Their wider partnership still needs approval from regulators.

The last two rows come from the national tourism board's list of what's new for 2027.

Which USA eSIM plan size fits your trip?

For most visitors, 10GB covers a trip of up to two weeks. On our USA plans, the step up from 5GB costs only $2 to $3. Pick the trip length first, then the data.

    United States plan (fixed data)5 days10 days15 days30 days
    5GB$4.95$4.95$4.95$5.95
    10GB$6.95$6.95$7.95$7.95
    15GB$8.95$9.95$9.95$10.95
    20GB$10.95$11.95$12.95$13.95
    30GB$14.95$16.95$17.95$18.95
    50GB$23.95$26.95$27.95$28.95

Prices are what you pay through the links on this blog. We read them from our live product feed on 22 October 2026. Two more plans sit outside the grid. One gives 3GB for a month at $4.95, and one gives 50GB for two months at $39.95.

    How to choose:

    • A long weekend of maps and messages: 5GB for 5 days.
    • One week in one city: 10GB for 10 days.
    • A two-week road trip with music in the car: 20GB for 15 days.
    • A month, or a laptop on hotspot every day: 30GB for 30 days.

Every USA country plan we sell runs on Verizon. Our network comparison shows where that network is strong and where its two national rivals do better.

Signal thins in the big national parks. Eleven of them now charge visitors from abroad aged 16 and over a $100 nonresident fee, per the park service. Download offline maps before you drive in.

We are an independent travel eSIM provider, and plans start from $4.95 USD. You get the QR code by email and on the website. It is website-only, no app needed.

What's on in the USA in 2026 and 2027?

The next ten months bring the 100th birthday of Route 66, a Super Bowl in Los Angeles, a spring festival in the capital and a new museum on the coast. The dates below come from the organisers.

Route 66 turns 100. The state byway group holds a daytime conference on 11 November. Tickets cost $75 for members and $125 for everyone else. The evening party starts at 6pm and ends with a rock concert, at $150 a ticket. Space is limited. A drive on the old road is a good case for 20GB, with maps and music running all day.

The big game. The football league has set the Super Bowl for 14 February 2027 at the stadium in Inglewood. Our stadium guide covers getting there and using your phone inside.

Spring in the capital. The cherry blossom festival runs from 20 March to 11 April 2027. It calls these save-the-date dates, so they may move. The league's draft comes to the same city three weeks after the festival ends.

Adding Europe to the same trip? Our Europe 2027 guide covers the other side of the ocean.

Do you need an ESTA for the USA?

You need an ESTA if your passport comes from one of the 42 visa waiver countries, which include the UK and most of the EU. Canadians do not need one. Indian travellers need a visa, because India is not on the list.

    PassportWhat you needStayCost
UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, most EU countriesESTAup to 90 days$40.62 from 16 Oct 2026
Canadano ESTA, no visa in most casesusually up to 6 monthsnone
India, and other countries not on the lista visaset by the visavaries

The full country list is on the Homeland Security site. The 90-day limit comes from the border agency, which suggests applying before you buy your flights.

The fee went up this month. A federal notice published on 1 October raised it from $40.27 to $40.62. The new price applies from 16 October. A refused application costs $10.62.

Travellers from the UK should read the Foreign Office page. It says to apply only through the official website or the official app. It also says an older authorisation without the new selfie photo may need replacing, so check yours before you fly.

Canadians can read their government's travel page. By air, you need a passport valid for the whole stay or a valid trusted-traveller card. If you stay longer than 30 days, you must register with the federal government.

eSIM or roaming: what do Canadian and UK visitors pay in the USA?

Roaming costs more each day than a whole eSIM plan costs for the trip. The two carriers we checked in Canada charge $13 to $16 a day. One UK carrier charges £7 or £8.

    OptionPrice10 days
    Lotsotravel USA 10GB, 10 days$6.95 USD$6.95 USD
    Bell Roam Better, USA$13 a day$130
    Rogers daily roaming, USA$16 a day$160
Rogers or Bell 14-day USA Travel Pass$60$60
Three UK Go Roam Around the World£8 a day£80

We read the prices on Bell's page and Rogers' page on 22 October 2026. Neither page names a currency. Bell adds that taxes are extra, and it only bills on days you call, text or use data.

From the UK, Three's roaming page puts the USA in its worldwide zone. The £8 rate applies if you joined on or after 18 December 2025. Earlier customers who joined from October 2021 pay £7.

Roaming has one real advantage: your own number works with no setup. You can have both. Leave your home SIM on for calls and texts, and set the eSIM as your data line. Then turn data roaming off on the home line, because most carriers start the daily fee as soon as data moves. Our guide to the 2026 roaming rules in Canada explains what sets off those charges.

What if your trip includes Canada or Mexico?

Take our Americas plan, which covers all three countries on one eSIM. It costs more per gigabyte than the USA plan, so buy it only when you need data across a border.

Americas plan (United States, Canada, Mexico)5 days10 days15 days30 days
    5GB$9.95$10.95$11.95$11.95
    10GB$16.95$18.95$19.95$20.95
    20GB$28.95$31.95$33.95$37.95

Americas prices are what you pay through our blog links, read from our live product feed on 22 October 2026.

Take ten days in Seattle with a two-day drive up to Vancouver. The USA plan with 10GB costs $6.95, but it stops at the border. The Americas plan with 10GB costs $18.95 and keeps working north of it. A Canadian doing the same trip in reverse already has coverage at home, so the USA plan is enough.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for a one-week trip to the USA?+
A United States country plan with 10GB. On 22 October 2026 our 10GB for 10 days cost $6.95, and 10GB for 15 days cost $7.95 if your week might stretch. Light users can take 5GB for 10 days at $4.95. Every US country plan we sell runs on Verizon. The plans are data only, so you keep your home number on your physical SIM for calls and texted codes.
What is the best eSIM for the USA from Canada?+
A US country plan, if you would otherwise roam. On 22 October 2026 Bell listed Roam Better in the US at $13 a day and Rogers listed daily US roaming at $16, both on Canadian sites. Rogers and Bell each sold a 14-day US Travel Pass for $60. Our 10GB plan for 15 days costs $7.95 USD. Keep your Canadian line on for calls if you need your number.
Do Canadians need an ESTA to visit the US?+
No. ESTA is the authorisation for Visa Waiver Program travellers, and Canada is not on the DHS list of 42 program countries. The Government of Canada says that in most cases Canadian citizens need no visa to visit the US and can usually stay up to six months. Flying in, you need a passport valid for the whole stay or a valid NEXUS card.
How much is an ESTA after 16 October 2026?+
$40.62 per approved travel authorisation, up from $40.27. A Federal Register notice published on 1 October 2026 set the new amount, made up of $17, $10.62 and $13, and CBP began charging it on 16 October 2026. A denied application costs $10.62. Apply only through the official ESTA website or the official app, and CBP suggests doing it before you buy your flights.
Does a US eSIM give me an American phone number?+
Not ours. Our United States plans are data only, with no US number for calls or texts. You can still call and message over data apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime. Leave your home SIM switched on for calls and for sign-in codes sent by text, but turn data roaming off on that line, so your home carrier cannot start a daily roaming charge.
Which eSIM covers the USA, Canada and Mexico on one trip?+
Our Americas plan, which covers all three countries on one eSIM. On 22 October 2026, 5GB for 15 days cost $11.95, 10GB for 15 days cost $19.95, and 20GB for 15 days cost $33.95. It costs more per gigabyte than the US country plan, so buy it only when you will need data in a second country, such as a drive into Canada or a flight to Mexico City.

    Methodology

    How we did this comparison

Lotsotravel prices come from our live v3 product API (/api/v3/products?country=US and ?country=MX), read on 22 October 2026. We quote the VIP price, which is what you pay when you arrive through a link on this blog, and fixed-data plans only. The network claim covers our United States country plans only (countryCount 1 in the API): every one of them listed Verizon on that date. The three-country Americas plans come from the same feed, filtered to plans covering more than one country.

Roaming prices come from the carriers' own pages, read on 22 October 2026: Rogers and Bell for Canada, Three for the UK. The Canadian pages show dollar amounts without naming a currency; we treat them as Canadian dollars. We could not load current US prices from EE, Vodafone UK or O2's own pages, so those carriers are left out.

Flight dates come from the Lufthansa Group newsroom and an Aviation A2Z report on the Air Canada and United announcement. Event dates come from the organisers (the NFL, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway, the National Coast Guard Museum) and from Brand USA. Entry rules come from the Federal Register, CBP, DHS, the Government of Canada and the UK Foreign Office.

What this post does not measure: we ran no speed tests in the US, we did not compare customer support, and we did not test how each plan behaves at the Canadian or Mexican border. The plans are data only, with no US phone number.
