Koodo Easy Roam and Travel Passes Explained: Costs and Countries (2026)

Updated Nov 3, 2026Pricing verified Oct 30, 20264 sources cited

Koodo sells two kinds of roaming, and the names are easy to mix up. Koodo Easy Roam is a daily fee: $18 for each day you use your phone in an international destination, $16 a day in the U.S. Koodo Travel Passes (Koodo calls them Easy Roam Travel Passes) are fixed blocks of 3 to 30 days for one price, starting at $25. Both let you use your Koodo plan abroad with calls, texts and the data you already pay for.

This guide covers what each one costs, which countries each pass includes, and the cases where neither is the cheapest way to get data. All figures come from Koodo's Easy Roam page, read on 30 October 2026.

Traveller using a phone abroad and comparing Koodo Easy Roam with a Koodo Travel Pass
Koodo Easy Roam is $18 a day abroad. The Europe Travel Pass is $50 for 14 days, cheaper from the third day.

    Key takeaways

    • Easy Roam is $18/day internationally and $16/day in the U.S., charged only on days you call, text or use data.
    • The Europe Travel Pass is $50 for 14 days or $60 for 30 days, and beats Easy Roam from day three.
    • There is no 7-day Europe pass. Even a short Europe trip costs at least $50 on a pass.
    • Turkey is not on Koodo's Europe or Asia pass lists. It takes Easy Roam or the $100 Global pass.
    • Easy Roam and every pass spend your Koodo plan's data.

What is Koodo Easy Roam, and how does it work?

Easy Roam is an add-on for Koodo monthly plans. You add it once in Self Serve or by texting ROAM to 7626, and Koodo says it stays active for future travel. In Canada it costs nothing. Abroad, it activates when you make or answer a call, send a text or use data, and from then on you are charged for that day.

What you get for the daily fee:

    • Your plan's data, the same allowance you use at home. Need more? Koodo lets you top up at its Canadian rates.
    • Calls to Canada and to numbers in the country you are visiting (U.S. Easy Roam covers calls to Canada and the U.S.).
    • Texts: incoming texts are free, and outgoing texts to anywhere are included. Premium messages are not.

A few limits from the fine print. Each phone number on an account has to add Easy Roam separately. It does not work on cruise ships, airplanes or other satellite locations, where pay-per-use rates apply. Calls to North American toll-free numbers from outside North America are charged at pay-per-use rates. And Koodo Prepaid phones can only be used in Canada and the U.S.

If you travel without Easy Roam or a pass, Koodo charges pay-per-use rates on top of your plan. Outside the U.S. you also need the International Voice Roaming and International Data Roaming add-ons for the phone to work at all.

What does a Koodo Travel Pass cost?

A Travel Pass covers a set number of consecutive days in one region for one price, with unlimited calls and texts plus your plan's data. You add one by texting a code to 7626 or in Self Serve. These are the passes on Koodo's page today, next to what Easy Roam would charge for the same number of days of use:

Koodo Travel PassPriceEasy Roam, same days
    USA 3-day$25$48
    USA 7-day$40$112
    USA 14-day$60$224
    Caribbean and Mexico 7-day$50$126
    Caribbean and Mexico 14-day$70$252
    Latin America 7-day$60$126
    Asia 14-day$70$252
    Europe 14-day$50$252
    Europe 30-day$60$540
    Australia and New Zealand 7-day$50$126
    Global 14-day$100$252
    Global 30-day$125$540

The Easy Roam column multiplies the daily rate by every day of the pass. Koodo's page does not publish a cap on charged days, so treat the 30-day figures as the uncapped worst case. Either way, the pass is the cheaper Koodo option long before day 30.

Which Koodo plan is best for Europe?

Koodo does not sell a separate "Europe plan". What people mean by Koodo Europe plans is the Europe Travel Pass: $50 for 14 days or $60 for 30. The maths is short. Easy Roam costs $36 for two days and $54 for three, so from day three the 14-day pass is cheaper even if you only stay three days. Past 14 days, the 30-day pass costs $10 more and covers the rest of the trip.

There is no 7-day Europe pass, which is the gap to watch. A four-day trip to Lisbon costs $50 on the pass or $72 on Easy Roam.

The Europe pass covers 54 destinations on Koodo's list, including the whole EU, the UK (England, Scotland and Wales listed separately), Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, the Balkans, Ukraine, Moldova, Malta, Monaco, Gibraltar, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Turkey is not on it. Koodo lists Turkey under Asia and the Middle East for Easy Roam, but it is not on the 13-country Asia Travel Pass list either. A Koodo customer in Istanbul pays Easy Roam at $18 a day or buys the Global pass.

Which countries do the other Koodo passes cover?

From the destination lists on Koodo's page:

    • Asia 14-day ($70): Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Maldives are not on it.
    • Latin America 7-day ($60): Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
    • Caribbean and Mexico ($50 for 7 days, $70 for 14): 29 destinations including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Aruba and Turks and Caicos. Cuba is on Easy Roam's list but not on this pass.
    • USA ($25 for 3 days, $40 for 7, $60 for 14): eligible U.S. destinations. Koodo's U.S. Easy Roam list covers the mainland plus Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands.
    • Global ($100 for 14 days, $125 for 30): the U.S. and 200+ international destinations.

Easy Roam itself covers 200+ international destinations across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Oceania.

Is Koodo Easy Roam worth it?

On a one- or two-day trip, yes: $18 or $36 with no setup, and your number works as usual. From day three in Europe, or on any trip where a regional pass fits, Easy Roam is the most expensive Koodo option on the menu. Koodo's own passes undercut it by a wide margin.

The passes have one cost that does not show on the price tag. Like Easy Roam, they spend your Koodo plan's data, so two weeks of maps, photos and video calls abroad come out of the allowance you need back home. That is where a travel eSIM changes the picture.

Where does a travel eSIM fit for Koodo customers?

A Lotsotravel Europe eSIM covers 33 European countries, Turkey included, with its own data bucket. Against Koodo's cheapest option for the same trip:

    TripCheapest Koodo optionLotsotravel eSIM
    2 days in ParisEasy Roam, $36 CADEurope 3 GB / 10 days, $4.95 USD (~$7 CAD)
    7 days in Italy, 5 GBEurope 14-day pass, $50 CADEurope 5 GB / 10 days, $5.95 USD (~$8 CAD)
    14 days in Spain and Portugal, 10 GBEurope 14-day pass, $50 CADEurope 10 GB / 15 days, $8.95 USD (~$13 CAD)
    21 days backpacking, 15 GBEurope 30-day pass, $60 CADEurope 15 GB / 30 days, $12.95 USD (~$18 CAD)
    10 days in Turkey, 10 GBGlobal 14-day pass, $100 CADEurope 10 GB / 10 days, $8.95 USD (~$13 CAD)

The eSIM carries data only, so most Koodo customers keep both lines in the phone. Set the eSIM as the data line and switch Data Roaming off on the Koodo line. Incoming texts are free on Koodo, so bank codes still arrive at no charge. Answering a call or sending a text on the Koodo line would start an $18 Easy Roam day, so make calls with WhatsApp or FaceTime over the eSIM's data instead.

    The short version

Koodo Easy Roam is $18 a day abroad and $16 a day in the U.S., charged only on days you call, text or use data. Koodo Travel Passes bundle 3 to 30 days for $25 to $125, and the Europe pass at $50 for 14 days beats Easy Roam from day three. Turkey sits outside both the Europe and Asia passes. For data, a travel eSIM from $4.95 USD costs less than any of them and keeps your Koodo allowance for home.

    Methodology

    How we did this comparison

Every Koodo figure in this post was read from Koodo's Easy Roam page (koodomobile.com/en/services/easyroam) on 2026-10-30, including the destination lists for each Travel Pass. Prices are in Canadian dollars before tax and apply to Koodo monthly (postpaid) plans. Koodo Prepaid phones can only be used in Canada and the U.S., so prepaid is not covered here.

Koodo's Easy Roam page does not publish a cap on the number of charged days per billing cycle, so we do not assume one either way. Every trip of three days or more in the tables below is priced on a Travel Pass, which costs less than Easy Roam from day three in Europe whatever the cap.

Lotsotravel prices are VIP prices from our live catalogue on 2026-10-30, in US dollars, which is what a reader who follows a link from this post pays. Canadian-dollar equivalents use the Bank of Canada rate of 1.3985 CAD per USD for 29 October 2026. We compare data cost only: Koodo's options also include calls and texts, while a Lotsotravel eSIM is data-only.
