The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite + Card is a Visa Infinite + card. Visa runs its Canadian cardholder eSIM program through GigSky, and at this tier that means treat it as the Visa Infinite benefit: one complimentary 1GB plan a year valid 15 days, plus 20% off every other GigSky plan.

- Verify in the GigSky app with your card number. The app is the arbiter of what your specific card gets, and it costs nothing to check.
Divide it and the shape of the benefit becomes clear: 1GB across 15 days is about 68 MB a day. That covers maps, messaging and boarding passes. It does not cover a video call home, a podcast on the train, or an evening of scrolling, and GigSky says as much itself: its lite plans exclude streaming, video calls and large downloads by design.
Where it runs out
Take a two-week trip. The complimentary allowance on this card is 1GB a year, and each plan runs 15 days. Even used perfectly, it is a starter rather than a trip's worth of data, which is why the discount on further plans matters more than the free gigabyte does. The gap is the part worth planning, and it is cheaper to close than most people expect.

Best for
The one-card answer for most Canadian travellers: no FX fee, six lounge visits and real medical coverage for $150.
Watch out
Scotiabank publishes eligibility as a range rather than a threshold, so approval is less predictable than the headline number suggests.
The conditions on the eSIM benefit
- GigSky's Canadian eligibility list names Visa Debit, Classic, Gold, Business, Platinum, Infinite, Infinite Business and Infinite Privilege. It does not name Visa Infinite + as a separate tier.
- GigSky's own FAQ does refer to an "Enhanced Global Data Plan" that some cards carry on top of the standard benefit, and confirms the two stack. It does not say which cards those are, and rewards blogs reporting a larger Infinite + allowance are not something we could verify on GigSky's own pages.
- Data only. GigSky states the service does not support voice calls or SMS, so your Canadian line still has to be reachable for anything that arrives as a text.
- The eligible Visa card has to be set as the default payment method inside the GigSky app. Pay with anything else and GigSky says you lose the discount and pay full retail.
- You have up to 365 days to activate, after which GigSky activates the plan for you whether you are travelling or not.
- The benefit renews every 365 days from redemption, not on a calendar year.
Other Visa Infinite + cards
These carry the same network tier, so the eSIM answer is identical. They differ on fees, earn rates and whether they charge you to spend in another currency.
