Does Rogers Have Free International Roaming? (2026)

Updated Nov 6, 2026Pricing verified Oct 30, 20266 sources cited

No. Rogers doesn't offer free international roaming as a standard feature. Roam Like Home is billed at $16 CAD a day in the US and $18 CAD a day in other eligible destinations, or you prepay a Travel Pass. What some Rogers customers do get is roaming built into their plan for specific places, a handful of free days through a Rogers credit card, or a discount on passes. Which of those applies depends on your plan, so here is each one, checked on rogers.com on 30 October 2026.

Rogers roaming is free only where your plan includes the destination. Everywhere else it bills by the day or by the pass.

    Key takeaways

    • No Rogers plan includes free roaming everywhere. The default is $16 CAD per day in the US and $18 CAD per day elsewhere.
    • 5G+ Essentials includes the US, and 5G+ Popular includes the US, Mexico and the Caribbean, each for 24 months from activation.
    • 5G+ Ultimate includes data, talk and text in 64 destinations and lists 50% off Roam Like Home and Travel Passes elsewhere.
    • Rogers Red Mastercard holders get 5 free Roam Like Home days a year; the Red World Legend card gets 10.
    • Outside those, a regional pass beats the daily rate from the second day in most regions.

    Which Rogers plans include roaming?

Rogers' current 5G+ lineup builds roaming into three of its four plans. Inclusions come from the plan footnotes on Rogers' plans page; prices are list prices for one line before bundle and Auto-Pay discounts.

    PlanList priceRoaming includedRoaming discount elsewhere
    5G+ Lite$80/moNone (Canada only)None listed
5G+ Essentials$85/moUS, for 24 months from activationNone listed
5G+ Popular$100/moUS, Mexico & Caribbean, for 24 months from activation25% off Roam Like Home and Travel Passes
5G+ Ultimate$115/mo64 destinations50% off Roam Like Home and Travel Passes

A few details in the footnotes are worth knowing before you count on that coverage:

    • The US and Mexico inclusions expire. Essentials and Popular cover those destinations "for 24 months from plan activation date." After that, the line goes back to daily or pass pricing unless Rogers changes the terms.
    • Data on Essentials slows down in the US past your allotment. The footnote says roaming in the US uses your plan's high-speed data, then reduced speeds up to 512 kbps for the rest of the bill cycle.
    • Ultimate's 64 destinations are a fixed list, not "the world." It includes the US, Mexico, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand, among others. Anywhere off the list falls back to Roam Like Home, at half price.
    • Primary use has to be on the Rogers network. Every inclusion footnote says primary data usage must be on your smartphone on the Rogers network, so these are travel allowances, not a way to live abroad on a Rogers plan.

Older plans and business plans have different terms. If you're not on a current 5G+ plan, your Mobile Service Agreement is what decides it, and texting TRAVEL to 222 confirms whether you're enrolled in Roam Like Home.

Are there free Roam Like Home days?

Yes, through Rogers Bank rather than through the mobile plan. The terms on Rogers' roaming page list:

Rogers Bank cardFree Roam Like Home days per year
    Rogers Red Mastercard5
    Rogers Red World Mastercard5
    Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard5
    Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard10

The days are credited on your Rogers bill as you use them, once Rogers links the card to an eligible mobile account (usually automatic within 7 business days). Any number on that account can use them, first come, first served. Prepaid accounts and most enterprise plans are excluded.

There's also a booking offer: book more than $1,000 CAD of travel outside Canada on Rogers' "Travel With Rewards" site (powered by Expedia), use your Rogers number on the booking, pay with a Rogers Bank Mastercard, and Rogers applies a 30-day International Travel Pass at no cost. Rogers describes it as a limited-time offer.

What does Rogers charge if roaming isn't included?

You pick between paying per day and prepaying a pass.

Roam Like Home Daily. $16 CAD per day in the US (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) and $18 CAD per day in other eligible destinations, per the Roam Like Home terms. A day is a calendar day in Eastern Time and runs until 11:59:59 p.m. ET wherever you are. The fee is charged per line, only on days you use your phone, and gives you your plan's own data, talk and text. Visiting the US and another country on the same day is billed as both.

Travel Pass. A fixed price for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days in one region. Prices on rogers.com on 30 October 2026:

    Region3 days7 days14 days30 days
    US$25$50$60$80
Europe, Asia, Oceania, Central & South America$30$55$70$90
    Africa$40$70$95$115
    International (180+ destinations)$45$75$100$120

Pay-per-use. If you've opted out of Roam Like Home or you're somewhere it isn't offered, you pay standard rates. For France, Rogers' destination search shows $2.00 a minute, $0.75 a text and $15.00 per 20MB of data. That last figure is why one forgotten background app can cost more than a pass.

Per day or a pass: where the break-even sits

    TripDaily rateCheapest passCheaper option
    2 days in New York$32US 3-day, $25Pass
    5 days in Paris$90Europe 7-day, $55Pass

    3 weeks in Italy$378Europe 30-day, $90Pass
    1 day in Seattle$16US 3-day, $25Daily

From the second day of use in one region, a Rogers Travel Pass costs less than daily charges in the US, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Central & South America. Africa is the exception: its 3-day pass is $40, so it wins from the third day. The daily rate only wins for a single day abroad, or a trip where you'll touch the phone on one or two days out of many. Our step-by-step guide to activating a Rogers Travel Pass covers how to set the start date so a pass doesn't overlap daily charges.

What's free on Rogers while you're abroad

Even without included roaming, some things don't cost anything. From Rogers' roaming charges FAQ:

    • Incoming texts and unanswered calls aren't billed if you've opted out of Roam Like Home and turned data roaming off.
    • Wi-Fi Calling to Canadian numbers, including checking voicemail, and incoming Wi-Fi calls aren't charged.
    • The welcome text Rogers sends on arrival is free, per its roaming page.

What does cost money: sending a text, answering a call, or any data over a cellular network abroad. Rogers also warns that iMessage can quietly fall back to SMS and that background refresh or cloud backups can use cellular data, which triggers a roaming charge.

The cheaper way to get data without free roaming

If your plan doesn't include your destination, the bill for data is the part you can shrink. A prepaid travel eSIM adds a second line for data while your Rogers line stays on for calls and texts. Rogers' own billing FAQ tells customers using a third-party travel eSIM to set it as the primary line so the Rogers SIM doesn't connect to a roaming network.

    5 days in Paris$55 CAD (Europe 7-day pass)$4.95 USD (Europe 3GB / 10 days)
    10 days in Japan$70 CAD (Asia 14-day pass)$7.95 USD (Japan 10GB / 15 days)
    3 weeks in Italy$90 CAD (Europe 30-day pass)$12.95 USD (Europe 15GB / 30 days)
    7 days in New York$50 CAD (US 7-day pass)$4.95 USD (USA 5GB / 10 days)

The Rogers figures are a pass using your own plan's data. The eSIM figures are separate data, so your Canadian allowance stays untouched. For the full picture by region, see Rogers Travel Pass vs eSIM, and for trips where you'd otherwise pay $18 a day, Rogers Roam Like Home vs eSIM.

If you're on 5G+ Popular heading to Mexico, or 5G+ Ultimate heading to one of its 64 destinations, your roaming is already paid for in your monthly bill. Everyone else is choosing between $16 to $18 a day, a pass, or a few dollars for an eSIM.

Does Rogers include free roaming in the US?+
Only on plans that include it. Rogers' 5G+ Essentials, Popular and Ultimate plans list data, talk and text in the US, with Essentials and Popular covering it for 24 months from plan activation. Through a Rogers Bank credit card linked to your Rogers mobile account. Rogers lists 5 Roam Like Home days a year for the Rogers Red Mastercard, Red World Mastercard and Red World Elite Mastercard, and 10 days a year for the Red World Legend Mastercard, credited on your bill as you use them.
Is anything free when I roam with Rogers?+
A few things. Rogers' roaming FAQ says incoming texts and unanswered calls aren't billed even if you've opted out of Roam Like Home with data roaming off, and that Wi-Fi Calling to Canadian numbers and incoming Wi-Fi calls aren't charged. Using data, sending a text or answering a call over the cellular network abroad is billed.
Is a Rogers Travel Pass cheaper than paying per day?+
For anything longer than a day, usually yes. A 3-day Europe pass is $30 CAD against $36 for two days at $18, and a 14-day Europe pass is $70 against $252 for 14 daily charges. Run the same check for the US, where the daily rate is $16 and a 3-day pass is $25.

    Methodology

    How we did this comparison

Plan inclusions, roaming discounts, daily rates, Travel Pass prices, pay-per-use rates and the credit-card and Expedia offers were read from Rogers' consumer pages on 30 October 2026: the mobile plans page and its plan footnotes, the roaming options page and its terms footnotes, the Roam Like Home terms, and the roaming charges FAQ. All Rogers prices are pre-tax CAD for consumer postpaid lines. Plan prices are list prices before Rogers' bundle and Auto-Pay discounts.

Lotsotravel prices come from our live catalogue on the same day, at the price a reader pays when arriving from this blog. We do not measure network speed, call quality or support response times for either side.
