Brazil for the Women's World Cup 2027: e-Visa Rules and What Roaming Really Costs

Two pieces of admin decide how smooth your 2027 Women's World Cup trip is, and neither one is football. The entry paperwork changed for three big fan nations in 2025. The phone bill is the part most people get wrong, in both directions: some fans assume a month of roaming is ruinous when their carrier actually stops charging, and others assume they are covered when their carrier has no ceiling at all.

Both are cheap and easy to handle before you fly. Here is the whole picture.

Part one: the e-visa

Brazil reinstated visa requirements for citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia on April 10, 2025, framing it as reciprocity, since Brazilians need visas for all three countries. The practical version:

• Where: the official portal, brazil.vfsevisa.com. Fully online, no consulate visit.
• Cost: $80.90 USD per person.
• Validity: 10 years, multiple entries, for US citizens; 5 years for Canadians and Australians. Stays up to 90 days per visit.
• When to apply: processing has averaged a few business days, but volumes spike around big events. Apply weeks ahead of a fixed match date, not days.

Three things fans get wrong. A ticket is not a visa, and FIFA has announced no entry-waiver scheme for this tournament. The e-visa outlives the tournament, so if you did a 2025 or 2026 Brazil trip on one, check its validity before paying again. And most other passports do not need one: the UK, most of the EU, and Brazil's South American neighbours remain visa-exempt for short tourist stays. Part two: the roaming bill

The tournament runs June 24 to July 25, which is 32 days end to end. Every major carrier charges within a couple of dollars of the same daily rate, so the daily rate is not the interesting number. The interesting number is where the meter stops.

Three things worth knowing before you pick a row.

AT&T's cap is real and largely unadvertised. Once ten Day Pass days are charged in a bill period, the rest of that period is free on that line. It applies to consumer lines only, not business accounts, and the counter resets each bill period, so a 32-day trip crossing a bill date can be charged for two sets of ten days.

Rogers works the same way with different numbers, capping at twenty charged days per bill period. If your trip sits mostly inside one period the cap bites; if it splits evenly across two, it barely does. For a stay of this length the International pass at $120 CAD for 30 days, which covers over 180 destinations, is usually the cheaper Rogers route.

Verizon publishes no ceiling. The same $12 daily rate that costs an AT&T customer $240 can cost a Verizon customer $384, and each TravelPass session gives 5 GB at high speed before dropping to slower data for the rest of that session.

The pre-flight checklist

1. Months out: check whether your passport needs the e-visa and apply at brazil.vfsevisa.com if so. Register ticket interest at FIFA.com/tickets. Sales open in phases, through FIFA only.
2. A week out: buy your Brazil eSIM. When the email says your QR code is ready, install it from the website over home Wi-Fi.
3. Before boarding: set the eSIM as your data line, turn off data roaming on the home line, and keep the home SIM active for calls and 2FA.
4. On landing: confirm the eSIM is online before leaving the terminal.
