RedteaGO vs Lotsotravel: The Sticker Price and the Small Print (2026)

RedteaGO leads with the price, and the price is small. Its Google Play listing says data plans start from $0.54, and the listings that track its catalogue quote Europe from $0.52. Nothing about that is a trick. It is the entry price of a catalogue that runs from one-day SKUs to 365-day ones, and the cheapest thing in any catalogue is the smallest thing in it.

So the sticker is not the interesting part. The label is: when the clock starts, what "unlimited" buys before it stops being unlimited, which plans can be topped up, and what happens to the gigabytes you paid for and did not use. Those four answers decide what you pay far more often than the headline does, and RedteaGO publishes all four, you just have to go and read them.

Who you're buying from

Worth establishing first, because a lot of eSIM brands are a Shopify theme in front of somebody else's wholesale account, and RedteaGO is not one of them.

RedteaGO is the consumer-facing app of Redtea Mobile, a company that has been building eSIM technology since 2015 and runs its consumer app alongside enterprise product lines: RedteaSIM and RedteaReady for IoT hardware, and eSIM.Plus as a turnkey platform sold to mobile operators. Redtea Mobile says its embedded connectivity capability has shipped on more than 500 million devices, with network resources spanning 200+ countries and regions. The Android app is published by REDTEA MOBILE PTE. LTD., the Singapore entity.

Translated out of corporate English: the company that sells you the travel plan also builds the machinery that puts eSIM profiles into other manufacturers' hardware. Whatever else you conclude from this post, that is a real business with real engineers, and the consumer product page is the smallest thing it does.

We are a different kind of company, an independent travel eSIM provider, selling one thing to travellers through a website. Neither shape is better on its own. They just produce different catalogues, and that difference is what you are choosing between.

The sticker

A sub-dollar entry price is a real number attached to a real SKU. What it does not tell you is the rate you will pay, because in RedteaGO's catalogue the same volume of data is priced differently depending on the window bolted to it. The listings include shapes like 10GB valid for a single day and 20GB valid for 90, those are not typos, they are different products aimed at different trips, and their per-gigabyte rates are nowhere near each other.

So do not compare the sticker. Compare the rate, using the only three numbers that matter on any travel eSIM:

Run it honestly and cheap plans often stop being cheap, on any provider's shelf, ours included. That is why our price list below is printed with the window attached to every row.

The label: four lines worth reading

RedteaGO publishes all of this. None of it is hidden. It is just not on the sticker.

The clock starts when the eSIM connects, not when you buy. RedteaGO's FAQ states that for most operators the validity period begins the moment the eSIM activates, the moment it first connects to a network, and that activation itself needs a working internet connection, with a warning that a disconnection mid-activation can make it fail. The rule that follows applies to us too: install the profile at home over Wi-Fi days before you fly, leave the line switched off, and let it make its first connection when you land.

"Unlimited" is a daily allowance plus a slow lane. RedteaGO's unlimited packages publish a high-speed quota per day and a throttle after it: the basic package gives 300MB a day at full speed, the premium package gives 10GB a day, and both drop to 48 KB/s, around 384 kbps, until the next 24-hour reset. Credit where it is due: the numbers are published, which is more than a lot of "unlimited" marketing manages.

Top-ups are not universal. RedteaGO's FAQ describes an "Add Data" flow for topping up a plan, with two conditions attached: top-up is supported only on certain plans, and a refill activates as soon as you buy it and is non-refundable. If your plan is not one of the supported ones, running out means buying a fresh eSIM plan rather than extending the one on your phone. Worth checking before you buy, not after.

Unused data dies with the plan. RedteaGO's refund policy states that once a plan expires, unused data, SMS and call minutes are forfeited automatically, and are non-refundable, non-extendable and non-transferable. It also sets the refund route: if an eSIM cannot be activated or used because of a technical problem on RedteaGO's side, you can request a refund or a replacement within 30 days of purchase. That is a normal policy for this category, ours is the same shape, but 30 days from purchase, not from activation, is the kind of detail that matters if you buy in March for a trip in May.

Two shapes of "unlimited"

This is where the products diverge, and neither answer is the right one for everybody.

The honest read: their throttled lane is faster than ours. 384 kbps will carry messaging, maps and email; 128 kbps is a worse afternoon. But a daily quota punishes the day you tether a laptop in an airport for four hours, and the basic tier's 300MB is a small full-speed budget for anyone who opens a video by accident. A total allowance does the opposite, it lets one heavy day eat the pot, which is fine if you sized the pot for your trip and painful if you didn't.

Pick by the shape of your usage, not by the word "unlimited", which at this point in the category means "there is a ceiling, read on to find out where".

Compare us yourself in five minutes

We are not going to tell you which of us is cheaper for your trip, because RedteaGO's rate depends on which window you pick and we would rather hand you the method than a number that ages badly.

1. Size the trip. Days abroad, times the gigabytes you use on a normal day at home. Most travellers land between 0.5GB and 1.5GB a day; maps, messaging and a couple of video calls sit at the bottom of that, and a week of scrolling on hotel Wi-Fi you don't trust sits at the top.
2. Take our row. Find the smallest plan above in the table that covers that number with the window you need.
3. Open theirs. RedteaGO's Europe page and its web store list the current plans; eSIMDB and eSIMS.io track them from the outside. Write down data, days and price for the plan that fits the same trip.
4. Divide both by the gigabytes you will use, not the gigabytes printed. Then check the window covers your whole trip. A cheaper plan that expires on day seven of a ten-day trip is two plans.
5. If you're comparing unlimited, compare the mechanics. Daily quota plus a fast slow-lane, or a whole-plan allowance plus a slower one. The table above sets out which is which.

Coverage, and the places it matters

RedteaGO's Europe SKUs are listed at 37 and 39 countries against our 33, so on paper its European footprint is wider. Ours covers the UK, Ireland, Türkiye, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and the EU/EEA countries on a single profile, which handles most European itineraries; if your route includes the Western Balkans, Ukraine or Moldova, check both destination lists before you assume parity, because that is exactly where the extra countries in a larger regional plan tend to live.

Headline destination counts for RedteaGO range from 150+ to 190+ depending on which page or store listing you read, which is a good reason to search your specific destination on its site rather than trust a total on a banner. One asymmetry worth naming: our Asia-Pacific regional plan does not include mainland China. If China is on your route, buy the country plan rather than the regional one, and read our China eSIM activation guide before you fly, because the install-before-you-go rule is stricter there than anywhere else. What we're not measuring

• Customer support. Not response times, not channels, not for them and not for us. Neither company has published a dataset that makes such a comparison fair, so we leave it out rather than dress an anecdote up as a finding.
• RedteaGO's plan prices. The reason is in the methodology and we will repeat it here: the independent trackers disagreed with each other on the same RedteaGO SKU on the day we checked, and its catalogue prices the same data volume differently by validity window. We link its pages instead. If you want a number from us, take the arithmetic above and apply it to whatever its page shows you today.
• Network speed. Both of us contract with local operators and rotate between them, so neither of us can promise you a tower. Speed depends on the partner, the hour, the cell and your handset.
• App quality and store ratings. RedteaGO is app-first with a web store; we have no app at all. Rating out of five is a measure of review prompts as much as of product, and comparing across that gap tells you nothing.
• Promotional credit. RedteaGO runs new-user data bonuses and discount codes, and voucher codes float around the tracker sites. We priced neither side on a promotion.
• Refund handling in edge cases. Both companies publish a policy for an eSIM that never worked. Past that, lived experience varies for every provider in this category, ours included.

Making the call

RedteaGO is a serious product from a company that has been in eSIM since before most travellers had heard the word, and its catalogue is deeper than ours: more validity windows, global packs, a wider European footprint, an app that installs a profile in a tap. If your trip crosses regions, or you want a daily-quota plan with a usable slow lane after it, that is a fair reason to buy from them and we would not argue.

Buy from us when you want the other shape: a whole-trip allowance at full speed, a short price list with the window printed next to every row, and a checkout that is a web page rather than an account in an app. And whichever way you go, do the two minutes of reading this post is about. The sticker is the cheapest thing on the packet. The label is the product.
